We refer to the letter, 'Make process of approving condo fees more transparent' (TODAY, 6 June).
For new developments, the maintenance charges levied after the issuance of the Temporary Occupation Permit are determined by the developers and approved by the Commissioner of Buildings. Generally, the maintenance costs of essential services vary in each development depending on its size, type, location and amenities, and are estimated by the developer based on its quotations from service providers or their consultants. For Skysuites 17, the developer had proposed a higher manpower allocation for services on cleaning, security and managing agent for a higher service standard.
At the first Annual General Meeting (AGM), amongst other things, the Council of the Management Corporation will be elected and the Subsidiary Proprietors at the AGM can determine the amount to be raised for the management fund and the sinking fund. We encourage all Subsidiary Proprietors (SPs) to attend the AGMs of the Management Corporation to provide input on the running of the estate.
We thank Ms See for her letter and have contacted her on this matter.
