SGBC-BCA Sustainability Leadership Awards

To recognise outstanding industry professionals for their consistent contribution and achievements in developing a green and sustainable built environment, BCA and the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) jointly launched the Sustainability Leadership Awards (SLA).

Award categories

  • Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance Award

Winners for Business Leadership in Sustainability Award and Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance Award will go on to represent Singapore in the World Green Building Council Asia Pacific Leadership Awards in Green Building.

Green Building Individual Award

Held once every two years, this award recognises individuals across the building and construction value chain for their consistent contributions and achievements. The award is presented at the International Built Environment Week in September.

Individuals who exude passion, leadership and entrepreneurial qualities in the championing of our green building movement

Show strong involvement and track record in green developments in Singapore and/or Green Mark projects overseas, at least over the past 3 years

Green Architect

The architect's achievements towards a greener and more sustainable built environment

  • Show strong involvement and track record in green developments in Singapore and/or Green Mark projects overseas, at least over the past 3 years
  • Be a Singapore registered architect.

Green Engineer

The accomplishments of (Civil and Structural, and Mechanical and Electrical), engineers in sustainability

  • Show strong involvement and track record in green developments in Singapore and/or Green Mark projects overseas, at least over the past 3 years
  • Be a Singapore registered professional engineer

Green Facilities Manager

The facilities manager's role and achievements towards greening and optimising the operation of existing buildings

Show strong involvement and track record in green developments in Singapore and/or Green Mark projects overseas, at least over the past 3 years

Green Innovator

Researchers for their breakthrough achievements in innovative products and technology

  • Show strong involvement and track record in green building research and development or innovation, that are applied in Singapore and/or Green Mark projects overseas, at least over the past 3 years
  • Alternatively, be undertaking research in a local Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) or affiliated research institutes locally or internationally

Young Green Building Individual Award

Young professionals from the above categories for their job area achievements and personal contributions to green buildings and developments

  • Below age 40 at the point of application
  • Meet eligibility criteria and apply for any of the aforementioned award sub-categories

Business Leadership in Sustainability Award

This award is for companies that demonstrate sustainable practices in internal and external business operations and show sustainability leadership within the industry. 

Criteria

  • Company must be a SGBC Corporate Member
  • The core business of the company must directly contribute to the building sector, with sustainability initiatives including (but that are not limited) to the following:
    • Corporate policy
    • Goals and planning
    • Operation policy
    • Industry leadership
    • Knowledge sharing

Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance Award

This award recognises outstanding and pioneering green buildings (commercial, residential and institutional) that deliver benefits through a holistic approach to sustainability.

Nominated building projects must:

  • Be in operation for at least 1 year
  • Have a valid BCA Green Mark rating of GoldPLUS or Platinum

Residential

Serviced apartments, landed properties, condominium, etc.

Institutional

Libraries, cultural centres, places of worship or religious facilities, education facilities, etc.
