Green Mark Incentive Scheme for Existing Buildings (GMIS-EB)

The $100 million Green Mark Incentive Scheme for Existing Buildings (GMIS-EB) scheme encourages existing building owners to adopt energy efficient retrofitting design, technologies and practices in their existing building to achieve a significant improvement in building energy efficiency.

Scheme details

Two incentives fall under this scheme:

Incentive Funding Validity
Cash incentive BCA co-funds up to 50% (capped at $3 million) of costs for purchasing and installing energy efficient equipment and engaging professional services to improve the energy efficiency of existing buildings. This fund has been fully committed and is no longer available.
“Health check” BCA co-funds 50% of the cost of an energy audit to determine the efficiency of air-conditioning plants.

The GMIS-EB Health Check scheme has expired.

Eligibility for GMIS-EB Health Check 

In general, GMIS-EB Health Check is applicable to existing buildings owners if their building meets the following criteria:

  • Be an existing private commercial (non-residential) developments.
  • Have a minimum gross floor area of 2,000 sqm.
  • Have central chilled water air-conditioning plants or which will be upgraded to have central chilled water air-conditioning plants.
  • Have attained a BCA Green Mark rating, which is still valid during application. (You may also apply for BCA Green Mark certification and GMIS-EB simultaneously.)
