Window Installation

The installation of windows is to be carried out by an Approved Window Contractor or Builder.

Who can install windows

  • A trained window installer who is either a director, partner, sole proprietor or employee of an approved window contractor or a builder, or
  • A person who is doing so under the supervision and guidance of a trained window installer (as above)

An unauthorised installer may face a penalty of up to $5,000 or jail term of up to six months or to both.

Installation requirements

The approved window contractor, builder or trainer window installer must:

  • Carry out window works in compliance with the objectives and performance requirements set out in the Building Control Regulations
  • Submit the certificate of completion of works (i.e. Form D) no later than 14 days after the completion of window works to the Commissioner of Building Control (BCA)

Failure to do so may result in a penalty of up to $5,000 or jail term of up to six months or to both.
