BCA Board Members Mr Lim Sim Seng (林森成), Group Head, Consumer Banking & Wealth Management, DBS Bank Ltd, and Er. Prof. Tan Thiam Soon (陈添顺), President, Singapore Institute of Technology, will succeed Mr Lee Fook Sun and Mr Norman Ip as Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Board, respectively, from 1 April 2021. Five new members will also join the BCA Board while seven existing members will be stepping down.
The new Board will continue to play a pivotal role in guiding BCA in the development of policies and strategies to transform the built environment sector into one that is more productive and technologically advanced. All appointments will be for a two-year term with effect from 1 April 2021. The full list of BCA Board members is appended in the Annex.

Mr Lee and Mr Ip have served on the BCA Board since 2011 and 2009 respectively and have been BCA’s Chairman and Deputy Chairman since 2016. They provided guidance to BCA on policies and initiatives to drive the transformation of the built environment sector, including the development of the Construction Industry Transformation Map in 2017 and the introduction of the Super Low Energy (SLE) Building programme in 2018 that pushed the envelope of environmental sustainability in Singapore. Their tenure also saw major reviews to enhance safety standards in the built environment sector, among which was the tightening of the lift maintenance regime, as well as the introduction of new escalator safety regulations.
