New programme for startups to drive development of embodied AI solutions in the construction sector
Enterprise Singapore, BCA and The GEAR by Kajima, have launched the Startup CoLab EAI programme to support startups in developing, testing and commercialising new embodied AI (EAI) solutions in the construction sector.

Speech by Minister Chee Hong Tat at HDB Awards 2026
At the HDB Awards 2026, Minister for National Development Mr Chee Hong Tat highlighted efforts to boost construction productivity through technology and standardisation. Smart hoists will be deployed at about 50% of all BTO sites tendered from 2027, while HDB’s Enhanced Precast Components Catalogue is expected to reduce project manhours by up to 20%. While BCA will waive the off-site pre-finishing requirement for Prefabricated Bathroom Units used in HDB projects for greater productivity gains.

At REDAS' Mid-Autumn Festival lunch, Second Minister for National Development Ms Indranee Rajah announced enhancements to the Accredited Checker (AC) framework from September 2028, requiring ACs and ACOs on larger, more complex projects to demonstrate relevant experience and track record, while smaller and lower-risk projects will have requirements calibrated accordingly.

Forum: All agencies committed to providing safe, accessible living environment for Singaporeans
In a forum reply published in The Straits Times, HDB and BCA shared that the government takes a coordinated approach to the provision and maintenance of tactile tiles, with BCA's Code on Accessibility establishing minimum slip resistance standards. Agencies work together to review and adopt best practices based on different environmental conditions, to ensure tactile tiles remain functional for persons with visual impairment while being safe for all users.
