Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG)
Sustainability
Unlock cost savings and boost sustainability with the Energy Efficiency Grant—supporting Singapore businesses to adopt energy-efficient equipment and electrification.

What is the Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG)?
The Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG) supports Singaporean businesses and organisations to invest in energy-efficient equipment. The EEG is open to businesses registered and operating in Singapore across a range of sectors as of 30 December 2024.
The EEG for the Construction Sector aligns with the Singapore Green Building Masterplan (SGBMP) to drive sustainable construction and accelerate Singapore’s shift towards a low-carbon Built Environment (BE).
The grant makes energy-saving upgrades more affordable by lowering upfront costs. With this support, Built Environment stakeholders can easily utilise higher energy-efficient construction equipment and adopt electrification, greening the construction process. The EEG provides two tiers of financial support. More details can be found in the GoBusiness website.
Who is eligible to apply for the Energy Efficiency Grant?
Under EEG for the Construction Sector, your business must:
Be registered and operating in Singapore under SSIC 41 to 43
Have a minimum of 30% local shareholding
Have a Group Annual Sales Turnover of no more than S$500mil
The equipment purchased must be used in Singapore and should not have been purchased prior to the EEG application.
Please refer to sector guidelines to confirm your business’s eligibility and specific application steps.
What can the Energy Efficiency Grant be used for?
The EEG funds investments in pre-approved energy-efficient (EE) equipment.
More information about the criteria for energy-efficient equipment under the Construction Sector can be found in the EEG equipment eligibility page.
What is the application process for the Energy Efficiency Grant?
The application process for the EEG depends on the business sector and tier of support.
Base tier and Advanced tier applications are to be submitted through the Business Grants Portal (BGP)
Advanced Tier applications will require a third-party assessment on their proposed solution to verify its lifetime carbon abatement.
Companies must submit all required supporting documents and declare relevant financial and operational details.
Businesses should follow sector-specific submission instructions and deadlines.
For detailed application guides for both Base and Advanced tiers, please visit the Business Grants Portal EEG page and consult the latest BCA circulars.
Energy Efficiency Grant FAQs
1. What is the difference between the EEG (Base) and EEG (Advanced)?
For EEG (Base)
The EEG (Base) supports companies to purchase pre-approved energy efficient equipment relevant to their companies.
For EEG (Advanced)
The EEG (Advanced) supports companies to adopt energy efficient equipment that is able to demonstrate energy savings above 350 tonnes of lifetime carbon abatement.
Support under the EEG (Advanced) is based on the lower of (i) support levels under the EEG (Base) according to the company’s size,1 or (ii) based on the equipment’s expected lifetime carbon abatement. Support is capped at S$350,000 across all EEG (Base) and EEG (Advanced) applications by the company.
1 70% and 30% support of energy efficient equipment costs for SMEs and non-SMEs respectively.
2. How many EEG grants can a firm apply for?
Each company is subjected to a grant cap of S$30,000 for EEG equipment supported under the EEG (Base). Companies can apply for more than one EEG (Base) application depending on business needs.
Companies can also apply for the EEG (Advanced) after applying for EEG (Base). However, each company is subjected to a total S$350,000 grant cap across all their EEG (Base) and EEG (Advanced) applications.
Should a company wish to apply for multiple equipment models, even if they are under the same category, they should apply for each model in separate applications. They can however apply for multiple quantities of the same model in the same application.
3. [For EEG (Advanced) only] What kind of solutions can I apply under EEG Advanced Tier and who can I approach for the third-party assessment report for the construction sector?
Eligible solutions are as follows:
1.Need not be under the Base tier pre-approved list, but must demonstrate energy savings above 350t lifetime carbon abatement, verified by a BCA-whitelisted third-party assessor.
2.Categorization of solution must be construction related such as those under the established categories of the EEG Base tier pre-approved list. Solutions whose sole purpose and intention aren’t directly related to construction processes are not permitted (E.g. Air-conditioners)
3.From our assessment, typical solutions that qualifies and meets the Advanced tier criteria are those that rely on electric operations. The delta in energy savings of a more efficient diesel-reliant solution may or may not achieve the benchmark criteria of more than 350t lifetime CO2e abatement.
The EEG (Advanced) only covers the purchase of the energy efficient equipment. Any other installation, assessment and administrative costs must be borne by the applicant.
