Innovation Sandbox: Driving adoption of Emerging Technology and Re-Engineering of Construction Processes
Built Environment Innovation Hub (BEIH)
About the Sandbox
The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) is inviting solution providers to apply for access to a dedicated innovation sandbox space at the Built Environment Innovation Hub (BEIH). The sandbox aims to support the testing, refinement, and demonstration of emerging technologies and re-engineered construction processes for the Singapore context, with a focus on productivity-enhancing solutions such as robotics and automation (R&A), Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA).
Location Plan
The primary space for the sandbox is at the triple-volume research lab (Block E, Level 2, BCA Braddell Campus). It supports floor loads up to 7.5kN/m² and features a landing platform with railings for hoisting heavy equipment.

Where necessary, alternative spaces within the campus may be identified to accommodate proposals. You may refer to this link for other facilities.
Scope of Activities
The sandbox space supports two types of activities:
Sandbox (open to all eligible applicants) — Fine-tuning of overseas solutions for local market fit, and experimentation with re-engineered or improved construction processes, with or without technology solutions.
Demonstration (open to tenants of BCA Braddell Campus only) — Showcasing of newer solutions and processes to industry stakeholders
Eligibility
The sandbox is open to local and overseas solution providers, including local suppliers and overseas suppliers without a physical presence in Singapore. To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
The proposed solution or process must be relevant to the built environment sector, with a focus on improving construction productivity.
The solution should be at a stage where sandbox testing or demonstration would meaningfully advance its readiness for adoption in Singapore — for instance, solutions that are new-to-market, not yet validated for local conditions, or requiring adaptation to meet local building codes and requirements.
Tenants of BCA Braddell Campus are eligible for both sandbox and demonstration activities.
Terms and Conditions
The sandbox space will be offered at no charge to successful applicants. However, applicants should note the following.
Duration and Occupancy:
The standard duration of occupancy is up to six months per solution provider, inclusive of mobilisation and demobilisation. Where proposals require a longer duration, BCA will evaluate these on a case-by-case basis.
For demonstration activities by tenants of BCA Braddell Campus, the duration of occupancy should not be beyond the office lease period, subject to a requirement to refresh the solutions on display every three months. BCA reserves the right to reassign the space if this requirement is not met.
Cost and Responsibility:
All costs associated with mobilisation, demobilisation, and reinstatement of equipment and set-up are to be borne by the solution provider.
Any operational or support services required (including general facilities maintenance) will be at the solution provider's cost, assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Solution providers should comply with the BCA Braddell Campus house rules when using the sandbox space and facilities at the Campus.
Legal and Administrative:
Solution providers are required to sign a standard indemnity agreement prior to commencing any activity at the sandbox.
BCA reserves the right to reject any application or terminate an occupancy arrangement at its discretion.
Application Window
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with a submission cycle every two months. Applications submitted within each cycle will be assessed at the end of that cycle (e.g. 31 August 2026 for the first cycle), and applicants will be notified within one month of cycle closure (e.g. 30 September 2026).
Should space remain unallocated, the subsequent submission cycle will run from 1 September 2026 to 31 October 2026.
Assessment Criteria
Applications will be assessed based on the following.
Critical criteria:
1. Solution must be relevant to Singapore’s Construction industry and alignment with BCA’s strategic priorities (e.g. Integrated Planning and Design, Advanced Manufacturing and Assembly, Sustainable Urban System). As a start, the space will be offered to teams trialling solutions that improve productivity; such as R&A solutions.
2. Solution must be ready for deployment at local project within 1 year from the start of the sandbox.
3. The proposed setup of the sandbox should not involve altering existing infrastructure.
Criteria and Weightage
S/N | Criteria | Weightage |
1 | Potential impact to raising construction productivity at industry-level | 40% |
2 | Clarity of the objectives and expected outcomes for the proposed testing or demonstration | 30% |
3 | Feasibility of the proposed set-up within the available space and duration. | 20% |
4 | Involvement of industry stakeholders | 10% |
TOTAL | 100% | |
Current Occupancy
BCA will publish and maintain an up-to-date overview of current sandbox occupancy, including the duration and space allocated to each solution provider. This allows interested parties to assess availability and plan their submissions accordingly and will be refreshed at the end of each review cycle.
Status of Current Occupancy
Solution Provider | Solution | Space Allocated | Duration | Status |

How to Apply
Interested parties may submit their applications using the prescribed form by the closing date of the relevant review cycle. Applications should include a brief description of the solution, the proposed testing or demonstration objectives, the equipment and space requirements, and the proposed duration of occupancy.
