MEDIA STATEMENT

A BCA engineer was sent to investigate the incident of the fallen Air-conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV) duct at Shaw NEX cinema on 30 August.

For safety reasons, BCA has instructed that the cinema be closed pending further investigation. 

BCA has instructed the building owner to appoint a Professional Engineer to carry out a detailed investigation of the incident, inspect and assess the condition of other ACMV ducts in the cinema, as well as recommend rectification measures to be carried out by the building owner.
