The Built Environment Technology Alliance, or BETA in short, is a programme office that works closely with government agencies, academia and industry stakeholders to co-create ideas, catalyse industry-led innovations for the built environment sector, and translate such innovations into economic value for both BE firms and Singapore.
Through the BETA Programme, we seek to enable a collaborative industry led by progressive alliances and supported by firms with specialised capabilities, in support of our industry transformation efforts for the Built Environment (BE) sector.
BE firms that are progressive and committed to work with their value-chain partners to pursue research and innovation endeavours may contact the officers below to kickstart such discussions, and explore suitable support.

BETA Projects supported as of 19 March 2024:
1) Innovative Construction Technologies for Deep Foundation and Excavation - Innovative Earth Retaining & Stabilising Structures (ERSS): Post-tensioned Waler System
To develop an innovative and cost-effective earth retaining and stabilising structure (ERSS) solution as an alternative to the conventional braced excavation system.
This project is led by the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) with the following alliance partners:
Woh Hup Pte Ltd
SEN SG Pte Ltd
2) Innovative Construction Technologies for Deep Foundation and Excavation - High Performance Plunge-in King Post for Top-Down Building Construction
To develop a smart and efficient plunge-in king post system to replace the conventional bulky king posts and manual positioning systems.
This project is led by the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) with the following alliance partners:
Woh Hup Pte Ltd
TTJ Design & Engineering Pte Ltd
3) Innovative Construction Technologies for Deep Foundation and Excavation - Economic Corrosion-resistant Concrete for Deep Foundation Elements with B600 Rebar
To develop novel concrete mixtures that are crack- and corrosion-resistant and more compatible with Grade B600 rebar under the underground environment conditions.
This project is led by the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) with the following alliance partners:
Woh Hup Pte Ltd
NatSteel Holdings Pte Ltd
4) Artificial Intelligence for Mixing (AiM)
To develop an AI system that integrates the concrete batching processes at the batching plants with the fleet of concrete mixer trucks delivering the concrete payload to project sites, enabling the relaying of real-time concrete batching info to the vehicles to facilitate in-transit concrete workability measurement and automated management.
This project is led by Pan-United Concrete Pte Ltd.
5) Waste Valorisation in Concrete Production via CO2 Sequestration
To develop the design and manufacturing of a new low-carbon concrete by combining and improving various Carbon Capture Utilisation (CCU) technologies such as CO2 mixing and carbonation of recycled concrete aggregates (RCAs) to enable dual CO2 sequestration.
This project is led by the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) with the following alliance partners:
Woh Hup Pte Ltd
Alliance Concrete Singapore Pte Ltd
Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), A*STAR
Cardiff University
6) Innovative Design of Blast Doors Systems
To develop a more optimised and efficient standard blast door system over existing industry designs by focusing on both the door panel as well as the ironmongery components. Corresponding design methods and fast engineering tools will also be developed.
This project is led by the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) with the following alliance partners:
Woh Hup Pte Ltd
TTJ Design & Engineering Pte Ltd
7) Sustainable Soil Stabilisation Using Novel Binders for Various Geotechnical Applications in Singapore
This project aims to investigate the use of sustainable novel binders for complete replacement of commercial binders like OPC for soil stabilisation in three geotechnical applications, including seepage cut-off wall, deep soil mixing, and liquefied stabilised soil.
This project is led by the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with the following alliance partners:
EnGro Corporation Limited
Zhao Yang Geotechnic Pte Ltd
