Criteria for Funding

  • For co-funding of Basic Accessibility Features, the Fund is applicable only for the upgrading of existing private buildings (except landed residential properties) built before implementation of mandatory Barrier–Free Accessibility requirements in (1990)
  • For co-funding of Universal Design Features, the Fund is applicable only for the upgrading of existing private buildings (except landed residential properties) built before implementation of mandatory requirements in the Code on Accessibility in the Built Environment 2013.
  • 'Building' refers to the premises including all facilities and building(s) for which the Funding is sought and must not be individual dwelling units. For residential building, the Fund only applies to the communal area.
  • Buildings undergoing extensive Additions and Alterations, which have to comply with the prevailing accessibility code, are not eligible for the Fund.
  • The Fund only covers the costs of construction works for accessibility features and the family friendly features. It excludes the cost related to consultancy and plan submission fees.
  • Applicants must comply with all regulatory requirements for the upgrading works.
  • For pre-1990 buildings, the total fund amount for a development is capped at S$300,000 and each building is allowed up to two applications.
  • For buildings that had achieved basic accessibility and built before the implementation of the Code on Accessibility in the Built Environment 2013, the total fund amount for a development is capped at S$100,000 and each building is allowed up to one application.
  • The Government, any public authority, or any organisation performing a public function, is not allowed to apply for the Funding.
