BIM Handover Technical Guide and Sample Clauses
Today, contractors have to recreate construction BIM from 2D tender drawings because they still form the Contract Documents while design BIM is issued for reference only. This has resulted in inefficiencies in the BIM workflow.
These can be resolved by releasing design BIM as part of Contract Documents in addition to a set of 2D drawings so that the contractors can build on the design BIM directly.
The Benefits of Releasing BIM
- Consultants reduce efforts in 2D drawings production
- Contractors reduce effort in recreating BIM from 2D drawings
- Client can expect lesser reworks and delay due to undetected discrepancy
- Project stakeholders can rely on BIM as the single source of truth to collaborate
The Objectives of BIM Handover Technical Guide
- Establishes the Essential Model Content and 2D Drawings which form part of Contract Documents
- Provides a set of guidelines for BIM preparation and issuance at construction tender
- Allows clients to adjust the exact scope to suit specific project needs and forms of contracts
